The western part of New York State is very rural with lots of small farms and villages, and it also known for the Amish people that live here. This time of the year is particularly quiet and a lot of places are closed for the season. We discovered a lovely little lake and walked around for a bit before we took the “scenic route” through Alleghany state forest and on through endless woods in Pennsylvania. The distance was only about 300 miles, but it took us almost 6 hours and we got to Lewisburg just in time for dinner. After an evening in the local sports bar with chicken wings and beer, we woke up to the most horrible weather and left quickly to drive on to Washington, DC.
